 JahZal was founded by the Akobi siblings originating from the West African country of Benin. As immigrants from Benin growing up in the U.S, they saw the lack of representation of their country and West Africa in general on the store shelves around them, despite the limitless resources and ingenuity present in the region. Thus was born the dream of JahZal. We envision JahZal to be a vibrant marketplace where the rich cultural heritage of Benin can be shared with the world through its unique food offerings and art.
